Vale of Clwyd Singers

Sunday 11th May 4pm

In 2011, Robert Sells invited some musically-minded friends together to sing carols and madrigals in pubs and houses around Denbigh. The Vale of Clwyd Singers was born, a group of a Capella singers which provides a unique sound in North Wales, performing a huge
variety of musical repertoire, from 13th century plainchant to 21st century commissioned works. Composers from Bach to Britten and Rachmaninov to Vaughan Williams feature in VOCS’ repertoire – and everything in-between: contemporary, classical and spirituals. Many of the choir’s performances are a capella, and engagements have included performances at the North Wales International Music Festival, Conwy Festival, the Brandenburg Choral Festival in London. The choir is now led by Adrian Griffiths. who has been a member of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Choir for 25 years, frequently as a soloist. Adrian was appointed Musical Director of the St. Peter’s Singers, Heswall’s Choral Society in 2007, returned to Port Sunlight Choral Society as Musical Director in 2019 and has been Musical Director of VOCS since November 2022. The Vale of Clwyd Singers is a mixed semi-professional group of 16-20 singers, drawn from North Wales, Cheshire and the Wirral.
